Wykamol Group’s first Contractor Training Week of 2017 occurred last month, marking a great start to the year.
With high demand for places and limited availability, it looks like our Summer courses will have similar success, as contractors are eager to complete their training ready for the busiest season in the building industry.
Throughout the week, the Wykamol Group’s Technical Managers conducted three courses at The Red Hall Hotel in Bury. We had companies sending multiple delegates to learn about our products and how to implement them, and being working towards Wykamol Registered Installer status.
David Jeffries, our Technical Director for Structural Waterproofing, outlined how beneficial it is for homeowners to use Wykamol Registered Installers to install our products. The combination of David’s advanced technical knowledge, the contractor’s practical skills and our range of laboratory tested products give insurance companies such as CGS and GPI the courage to issue insurance backed guarantees for a multitude of our customer’s building projects.
Paul Shepherd, our Technical Manager for Structural Repairs and a qualified Civil Engineer, led the introductory course on Crack Stitching, Lateral Restraints and CD Remedial Wall Ties. Paul has almost 40 years of experience in the industry: visiting sites, diagnosing structural issues and identifying remedies. His catalogue of images demonstrating poor structural repairs are both laughable and hair raising. As any contractor in the Structural Repairs industry will know, mistakes have catastrophic outcomes.
Trevor Harling, an Independent Specialist Surveyor with over 20 years of experience, led the Damp and Timber Training Course alongside Phil Charles, our Merchant Sales Director and product expert. Our Damp and Timber Course is always heavily over subscribed, and this session was no exception. Trevor and Phil, wanting to ensure all trainees gained everything they could from the course, capped the places at 10. Alongside essential diagnostic techniques, Phil and Trevor also covered the extensive uses of the Wykamol Renovation Plaster, No More Damp Tanking Slurry and mesh membranes, and how to correctly utilise a Digital Protimeter moisture meter.
The course leaders training courses are experts in their fields and have extensive experience in the industry. The Wykamol Group consider ourselves very lucky to be able to offer training from some of the most knowledgeable Technical Experts in Structural Repairs, Structural Waterproofing and Damp and Timber.
