A city-centre office building has been given the go-ahead to be converted into eight self-contained flats including large basement apartment areas.
Carlton House on Sandy Walk is Grade II-listed and sits in a conservation area.
Planning officers recommended approval, adding: “The change of use to eight apartments is considered to be the optimum viable use for the building having regard to the location within the city centre.”
With this in mind Wykamol registered installer Pure Basement Systems of Leeds was approached by the main contractor to design a new waterproofing scheme for the basement areas to turn these into new apartment spaces.
The team at Wykamol were chosen to help design the waterproofing and pumped drainage on this scheme including battery backup systems to protect this property.
A full Grade 3 cavity drain membrane system was used throughout this large basement space linked with a perimeter channel system to waterproof thee area and also a long term guarantee was issued by the team at Pure.
Wykamol have attended site at various stages of this amazing project to check on the install as well as meeting the design team of the main contractors.
Wykamol have a network of CSSW qualified waterproofing technical managers across the UK to be able to design and attend sites to give advice on basements that require waterproofing.
