When the homeowner bought this house on a prestigious road in Wimbledon London, they wanted to increase the footprint of the home to suit their needs. Instead of extending the exiting property they decided to demolish the existing house and replace it with a much larger home including a full footprint basement.
Wykamol, alongside the architects, had designed the waterproofing system for the new basement over 18 months before works started on the new home. These extensive designs and specialist drawings were produced by our expert in-house technical team.
The main contractor, Knowles Construction, were appointed to build the basement foundations and waterproof the shell scheme. Working alongside the contractor we have regular discussions about how to progress the project. The build started with our pre-applied membranes installed under the slab and behind foundation walls.
Waterproof concrete and a Type C cavity drain system were also specified on this high-end property to ensure a full waterproofing solution.
Regular monthly meetings have continued from the Team at Wykamol collaborating with the contractor to ensure that the waterproofing system is installed to the correct specification of the scheme.
We are proud to be working alongside the Knowles team, who have done an amazing job with the structure and the waterproofing system.
It’s crucial when working below ground to ensure that the design team and contractors have a thorough understanding of potential issues when dealing with problems of water ingress when working on a basement project of this scale.
We cannot wait to see the finished project but for now everything has gone according to plan and soon the basement will be completed. Once this is done, the remaining levels will be built to complete this amazing new home.
