Old Pier Tavern gets re-developed with large new basement, waterproofed by Wykamol

The public house, The Pier Tavern on the Isle of Dogs has a long history dating back 1863 when this building first opened.

More recently permission to turn this public house and adjoining land into luxury apartments was granted. Works commenced creating a large basement to replace the old smaller basement.

Whilst new apartments were being built above, Wykamol were asked by contractor Simon Wootton of Advanced Property Preservation to help design a scheme to waterproof this space.

Wykamol Hydra Dry Crystalline Slurry was applied to the walls and floors to function as part of a dual waterproofing scheme to BS8102.

Cavity drain membranes were then be installed as a secondary form of waterproofing within the basement structure.

Over 500m.sq. of Hydra Dry was sprayed onto the walls and floors and cavity drain membranes installed by the team at Advanced.

As can be seen in the images our high visibility yellow membrane was laid on the floors to help the contractor see jointing systems more easily.

Working on projects like this on a weekly basis, Wykamol can collaborate with architects and engineers to create designs and provide specialist drawings to allow contractors to waterproof these spaces to all current codes of practice.

Bespoke plans are crucial when working below ground and we regularly to help design schemes from multi-level basements to small domestic spaces.

We are proud Simon and his team have conducted the waterproofing to an excellent standard and the results speak for themselves.

If you have a project, you would like help with, why not contact the Wykamol team and we can get the ball rolling by looking at plans and starting a bespoke design on your building.
