Planning consent was secured from Westminster City Council on a flagship mixed-use retail and office scheme in the heart of London’s West End. Designed by Orms for Hines, the asset is located with dual frontage to both 80 New Bond Street and 325 Oxford Street.
This large building is having a basement extension and will be transformed into a retail space fronting one of the busiest shopping streets in the country.
A grade 3 environment was required in the basement space so Wykamol registered installer, The Gunite Group were brought in to look at the scheme.
Alongside Wykamol over 20 technical drawings and submissions were carried out by Gunite and the Wykamol team to submit to the planners and design consultants overseeing this scheme.
Wykamol technical manager Simon Smith has attended site on multiple occasions alongside Gunite to check specific areas including light wells and many other areas to discuss products to be able to apply to these areas before a Type C cavity drain membrane was to be installed.
Specialist flexible tanking mortars were used to waterproof these areas alongside our crystalline slurry Hydradry on all other areas to form part of a dual waterproofing scheme to BS8102.
The Type C waterproofing scheme has now been finished and we are pleased to be able to offer sign off warranties and long term guarantees on this project alongside Gunite’s own warranties.
As can be seen in the photos this is going to be a great retail space that will now be completely dry and be used for many years to come.
Wykamol are able to offer onsite assistance and specialist designs by our CSSW team at Wykamol. In fact nearly all our technical managers across the UK are qualified to be able to attend site and give advice on a multitude of waterproof projects.
